Grade 4037 alloy steel is a medium-carbon alloy with molybdenum (0.2% to 0.3%), manganese, and silicon (0.15% to 0.35%). This chemical composition provides the material’s characteristic combination of high ductility and excellent wear resistance, vibration resistance, and shock resistance. Other advantages include high machinability, good corrosion resistance, and strong thermal properties:

Alloy 4037 fasteners can be welded using shielded metal arc welding and oxy-fuel methods, as well as cold-formed, direct hardened, annealed, quenched, and tempered.
