What Are the Benefits of Countersunk Head Rivets?
Countersunk head rivets install flush to the installation surface providing a smooth finish, reducing drag, and limiting the likelihood of something catching or snagging on the fastener. Because the head profile sits flat, this is an optimal solution for tight spaces, where a domed fastener head couldn’t fit. The tapered shape of the head also avoids loosening once installed, making them an effective permanent joining solution.
How Do You Use Countersunk Rivets?
Countersunk rivets are used to join workpiece materials together where the head of the assembled rivet will be flush with the top of the work piece. Riveted workpieces are most often joined together by impacting or compressing the end of the rivet with a crimping die (rivet anvil).
Countersunk head rivet angles should closely match the angle of the work piece hole so that the maximum amount of rivet head remains in contact with the work piece when assembled. The length of most countersunk head rivets is measured from the top of the head to the extreme end of the rivet shank. The tightness of the clinched joint is determined by the amount of force applied to the clinched end of the rivet and can easily be adjusted. We manufacture countersunk rivets ranging from 5/64” to 3/8” and can design & produce both metric & imperial measurements.
