302 Stainless Steel Vs. Other 300-Series Alloys
Stainless steel grade 302 belongs to the 18/8 grouping with 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Grade 302 is similar to 304 stainless steel, but it contains slightly more carbon (0.15% compared to 0.08%). This difference increases toughness, hardness, and corrosion resistance.
Grade 302 stainless steel fasteners provide a wider range of corrosion resistance to moderately aggressive solutions, including solvents, reducing acids, and organic acids. Specific examples include diluted nitric acid, phosphoric acid, and acetic acid.
